Copyright & Licensing
Last updated: 28 September 2026
1. Scope
This Copyright & Licensing policy explains who owns what on Sharpy: your inputs, the videos the Service generates, the platform itself, and how rights holders report infringing content. It forms part of the Terms of Service; defined terms used there (“Service”, “Inputs”, “Outputs”) have the same meaning here.
2. Ownership of inputs
You keep all rights to the prompts, images and keyframes you upload (“Inputs”). We process them only to provide the Service: to generate your videos, display them to you, and keep the backups and logs needed to operate reliably. You grant us the limited, non-exclusive licence required for those technical steps - nothing broader.
3. Your warranties for inputs
You warrant that you own or have the necessary licences, permissions and consents for everything you upload - including copyrights, trademarks and the likeness of any person depicted. Generating a video from material you do not have rights to is a violation of the Terms of Service, regardless of what the model produces. We may ask you to evidence the rights to an upload where a report or a legal obligation requires it.
4. Licence in generated outputs
- As between you and us, Outputs - the videos the Service generates from your Inputs - are yours to use, including commercially, subject to sections 5 and 6 and to the terms of the underlying model provider.
- AI-generated content may not qualify for copyright protection in some jurisdictions, and similar prompts from different users can produce similar results. We do not - and cannot - guarantee exclusivity of an Output.
- We may use Outputs in aggregated, non-identifying form to operate, secure and improve the Service, and - where you have flagged them for the public showcase - display them in the showcase gallery.
5. Watermark policy
Every Output carries a visible Sharpy watermark, burned in at delivery, per the AI Ethics & Safety policy. You receive Outputs with that marking and agree not to remove, obscure or defeat it, and not to distribute de-watermarked derivatives. The watermark is our disclosure that the content is AI-generated; it is not a claim of authorship over your Output.
6. Model provider terms
Generation runs on third-party models whose licences may impose additional conditions - for example, restrictions on using outputs to train competing models, or provenance labelling requirements. Where a provider's terms apply to your use of that model's outputs, we will point you to them; you agree to comply with them in addition to this policy.
7. Reporting infringement (notice and takedown)
- If you believe content on the Service infringes your copyright, send a notice to our designated agent at with the subject “Copyright notice”.
- Include: (a) identification of the copyrighted work claimed to be infringed; (b) the specific content or its location/URL on the Service; (c) your contact details (name, email, address); (d) a statement that you have a good-faith belief the use is not authorized; (e) a statement, under penalty of perjury, that the information is accurate and that you are the rights holder or authorized to act for them; and (f) your physical or electronic signature.
- We review notices, remove or disable access to infringing content, and may terminate repeat infringers. Where we have the affected user's contact details we will attempt to notify them, and they may send a counter-notice to the same address with the same level of detail; on a valid counter-notice we may restore the content unless you notify us that you have filed proceedings to restrain the infringement.
- Knowingly misrepresenting that content is infringing may expose you to liability for damages under applicable law.
8. Platform intellectual property
The Service itself - its software, design, text, graphics, the Sharpy name and logo, and this documentation - belongs to us or our licensors and is protected by copyright, trademark and other laws. Except for the limited rights these policies grant you, nothing is transferred to you.
9. Changes and contact
We may update this policy; the “Last updated” date above reflects the current version. Material changes are announced in the Service or by email. Questions about this policy: .
